Dedicated staff who have clocked up 1,600 years of service between them at West Suffolk Hospital have been presented with long-service awards.

The staff, who were given certificates to commemorate their achievements, came from a number of departments, ranging from midwifery to maintenance.

Three staff members who have been working at the hospital for more than 40 years were celebrated alongside 58 other staff who have all worked at the Bury St Edmunds hospital for at least 20 years.

Jan Bloomfield, executive director of workforce and communications, said: “We were delighted to be able to celebrate the dedication and hard work of our long-serving staff, who are the bedrock of everything we do.

“We are both fortunate and proud to have such loyal and dependable people working here.

“We would like to thank them all for their efforts on behalf of our patients over the years and congratulate them on their achievement.”
