Long Melford is looking for a third parish clerk since March 2015 after Jill Gould resigned.

In a statement council chairman Graham Eade said: “The clerk to Long Melford Parish Council resigned her position on May 19, and she wishes the village all the best for the years ahead.

“The Parish Council also wishes her every success for the future.

“We will be looking to engage a temporary Clerk until we are able to employ a permanent replacement.”

Mr Eade also announced a by-election to replace former parish councillors Ann Moreton and Steve (Spud) Dudden will take place on Thursday, July 14, if there are more than two candidates standing.

Recently named the council’s chairman, Mr Eade had said he hoped the council could put its well publicised problems behind it and work together for the good of the village.
