Long Melford homes plan refused

Campaigners in Long Melford were relieved yesterday (Wednesday) after plans for 51 houses in the village were turned down by councillors.

Babergh District Council’s development committee refused permission for the David Wilson Homes development of the former Fleetwood Caravan factory site in Hall Street, despite the officer’s recommendation for approval.

Councillors said the plans represented an over-development of the site which would lead to pedestrian safety issues.
