CHILDREN from Long Melford Primary School released 120 balloons as a visual and poignant reminder of the men who died fighting for their country.

The red balloons, emblazoned with black poppies, were for the 120 men from the village who died in the two world wars.

The school held the ceremony on Friday, while children from Cavendish Primary School also laid wreaths at their village’s war memorial and held a two-minute silence.

Remembrance Day services and parades took place across the district.
