Three days of festivities and entertainment will be coming to the streets of Lavenham when the annual Christmas fair returns next week.
The Market Place and the historic Guildhall and Little Hall will be awash with festive spirit as the village kicks off Christmas on the weekend of Friday, December 4, until Sunday, December 6.
The Friday night will start with the lighting of the village Christmas tree in the Market Place and the arrival of Father Christmas who will be visiting the village throughout the weekend.
The attractions include around 80 stalls in marquees and the Guildhall, selling a selection of gifts, clothes and stocking fillers.
There will also be an array of food and drink stalls.
Possibly the most impressive sight will be the Big Wheel, which will offer bird’s eye views over Lavenham and the surrounding countryside, while little ones can visit Father Christmas in his grotto.
There will be entertainment all weekend including performances by the Lavenham Upbeat Contemporary Choir, mini fairground rides and the Scotty Circus Workshop.
Late-night shopping is also taking place on the Friday at shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants throughout the village.
Martine Crepy, member of the Christmas fair organising committee, said: “We are very excited about this year’s three-day festive fair.
“Lavenham is a magical place 365 days of the year but we are working hard to ensure there is an extra sprinkle of festive celebration for our big weekend event.”
A grand raffle with prizes donated by the Great House, Weavers’ House Spa at the Swan Hotel, Lavenham Clinic and Lavenham Photographic has also begun, with tickets priced at £1.
The fair will run between 5.30pm and 8.30pm on Friday, December 4, 11am to 5pm on Saturday, December 5, and 11am until 4pm on Sunday, December 6.
