A TIRELESS fundraiser for St John Ambulance has been made a member of a prestigious order as a thankyou for her efforts.
Laura Wallace, from Highlands Road in Monks Eleigh, was invested into the Order of St John at a ceremony in London.
She was recognised for her dedication and commitment in raising money for the volunteer life savers in Suffolk over the last six years and her overall involvement over 15 years.
“I feel very proud and humbled to have been given this honour,” said Mrs Wallace, who lives with her husband Falconer and has two grown-up children, George and Robert.
“The volunteers who consistently save lives deserve the plaudits though,” she added. “I just raise the funds.”
Mrs Wallace has helped pull together events, including annual lectures, plant sales and carol services across Suffolk, while juggling other commitments, like helping at Monks Eleigh’s community shop and playing the organ for the benefice.
“We always need funds,” she said. “A new ambulance costs £70,000 and volunteers constantly need their equipment upgraded.
“St John Ambulance does a wonderful job, saving people’s lives day in, day out.”
