Most people have heard the song Ten Green Bottles which were hanging on the wall. How about the 300 green bottles that were hanging around on a grass verge?

Sudbury Town Council litter pickers discovered scores of empty beer bottles dumped by the side of the bypass near Tesco supermarket on Tuesday.

The bottles were scattered over a grass bank – giving a new meaning to the phrase bottle bank.

Sudbury community warden Bradley Smith and his team were picking litter when they discovered the hoard, along with hundreds of discarded bottle caps.

“We saw some things glinting in the sunlight and then we saw all these beer bottles everywhere,” he said. “Why anyone would want to sit and drink by this noisy road beats me.”
