We have no plans to let staff go, says bottle factory

Philips Avent baby bottle factory in Glemsford says it has no plans to reduce its staff or factory operations, quashing rumours.

A staff meeting to relay the company’s latest financial results was due to take place yesterday.

But spokesman Jayson Otke said the meeting did not go ahead and this may have sparked speculation of some changes.

Fifteen management and support roles went at the factory last year.

Mr Otke said: “I think a staff meeting was due to take place but it was to give positive news of our financial results. We have no plans to let staff go or to partially close the factory.” The factory in Lower Road employs more than 500 people.
