Update: Young girl seriously injured after car crash in Earls Colne
A 15-MONTH-OLD girl suffered serious head injuries following a car crash in Earls Colne.
The crash took place in Coggeshall Road at 7.15pm yesterday when a black Vauxhall Zafira collided with a Daf lorry.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, with the air ambulance also attending.
Fire crews used specialist cutting equipment to free the girl from the car, while a six-year-old girl and the car driver were treated for minor injuries.
Once released the toddler was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, where her condition is said to be stable.
“This was a very delicate incident to deal with for all emergency services involved,” said Gary Sanderson, from the East of England Ambulance Service.
“Police, fire, ambulance and doctors worked very hard to treat and stabilise all the casualties before they were taken to hospital for further care.”
A 43-year-old man from Southend was arrested at the scene on suspicion of careless driving. He was released on bail pending further enquiries until November 12.
