The family of a 13-year-old boy who died only a week after finding out he had a brain tumour hope to set up a trust fund to continue his charity work.

Arran Tosh, from Jubilee Gardens, Sudbury, was a keen fundraiser, helping disabled children to visit the south of France and supporting Cancer Research UK.

A passionate singer, Arran supported the charity by busking around Sudbury and was planning to shave his head at the end of the year if he raised £1,000.

Sadly, Arran died before the head shave, which was due to take place at Hedingham School where he was a Year 9 pupil.

Since his death, his fundraising page has seen donations reach more than £18,000 and now his parents want to set up a trust fund so that his legacy can live on.

To create the trust, to be called the Smile of Arran, they need to raise a further £10,000.

To help, Stacey Knapp, who works with Arran’s mother Alison at St Andrew’s Primary School in Great Yeldham, has decided to do a fundraising skydive.

The 24-year-old will take the plunge on July 25, and said she was excited and proud to do it.

“I’ve always wanted to do one,” she said. “I thought now was the right time.”

Miss Knapp said she was touched by Arran’s story.

“We all need to follow this young man’s footsteps and help those who need us,” she said.

The family are right behind Miss Knapp, who is volunteering as a teaching assistant at the school.

“They are so strong,” she said. “It was heartbreaking to hear, but they loved my idea and they desperately want to open this trust fund.”

There is also a charity football match at Lawn Meadow in Hedingham on Saturday at midday in honour of Arran.
