A 12-YEAR-OLD girl who died after a three-year battle with cancer was remembered by her friends in Great Cornard at a school fundraising day on Friday.

Carrie Allen, daughter of former St Andrew’s Church vicar Jamie Allen, died two weeks ago at her home in New Zealand. She had spent four years in Great Cornard with her family before emigrating in January, 2010.

Staff and pupils at Great Cornard Middle School, which Carrie attended for a few months before moving, gave donations to dress in her favourite colour, pink, and held a cake sale, with more than £300 going to Cancer Research.

Hannah Brown, 13, from Carsons Drive, who was good friends with Carrie at the school, said: “Carrie was always really happy here. I helped set this up as I don’t want any other people to go through what she did.”
