The family and Hadleigh hit-and-run victim Chris Corder have spoken out following the sentencing of driver Andrew Boyd

THE FAMILY of hit-and-run victim Chris Corder have spoken out following the sentencing of the man, who left their loved one lying in the road with life changing injuries following a collision in Hadleigh last September.

Andrew Boyd, 42, of Lady Margaret Road, North London, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and was banned from driving for three years when he appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday, February 24.

Mr Corder, 42, is in a coma in a Norfolk hospital and is expected to need care for the rest of his life.

Following the hearing, Jennie Corder, Mr Corder's sister, said: "I am really angry. He has ruined the rest of my brother's life. I don't honestly think he had any remorse."

In a joint statement, Mr Corder's family spoke of the sentence they will all now have to face as a result of the devastating injuries suffered by Mr Corder, and gave thanks to everyone who had helped following the collision.

"Whilst Chris's family are satisfied that Boyd has been given a prison sentence, it is nothing compared to the sentence that Chris and his family face.

"During his time in prison we hope that he reflects on his conduct – he chose to ignore laws and values of society.

"When he comes out, hopefully he won't commit these offences again so as not to risk the lives of innocent people – like our Chris – and also looks at how his conduct has affected his own family."
