The title of Suffolk’s strongest man will be up for grabs in an event in Sudbury in September.

Competitors from across the country will join Suffolk’s strongest to win the titles on offer at the annual competition.

“There will be some pretty big guys here,” said event organiser Dan McNamee.

However, there will also be a beginners event for less-experienced lifters.

The day is about more than just muscles and testosterone.

In aid of Diabetes UK, it is hoped that thousands can be raised along with awareness on the condition.

“We will have a guy from Scotland competing who has Type 1 diabetes,” said Mr McNamee.

“It shows it doesn’t hold people back.”

Mr McNamee, who came second in the event last year, is a manager at Tesco in Springlands Way, Sudbury, where the event is held.

He hopes this year that stall holders, craftsmen and entertainers would be interested in making the event “a real family fun day”.

Mr McNamee added: “We are also interested in businesses getting involved, maybe sponsoring the events as all the money goes to charity.”
