Sudbury boy, 8, killed in car crash
A YOUNG boy from Sudbury killed in a car crash on Sunday was “bright, caring and popular”, according to his headteacher.
Joel Depper, eight, of Uplands Road, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with life-threatening injuries after the maroon Mazda he was travelling in came off the road and hit a tree on the A14 near Stow-cum-Quy on Sunday. He died later that day.
A 41-year-old woman driver, believed to be Joel’s mother, and a seven-year-old boy, thought to be his brother Ollie, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Sue Williams, headteacher at Tudor Primary School, which Joel attended, said: “Everyone connected with the school was shocked and saddened to hear about Joel and he will be very sorely missed.”
