A charity fundraiser has spoken of his surprise at the support he has been given since money he was collecting was stolen from Sudbury’s Kingfisher Leisure Centre.
Steven Boast, 20, who works at the leisure centre, signed up for the tandem jump for Cancer Research UK after his mother twice battled back from the illness.
Since the collection tin was stolen, Mr Boast said he had been inundated with support, with many people visiting the centre to donate money.
“We have made all the money back,” said Mr Boast. “I am incredibly grateful for the amount of support – it’s been a real surprise.
Mr Boast said police had not given any indication that they were any closer to finding the thief or the stolen money.
Since the theft, Mr Boast has gone on to complete the skydive.
He said: “It was excellent – I would do it again.”
