Sudbury firefighters wash cars for charity

Sudbury's retained firefighters put their hoses to good use on Saturday.

They washed 80 cars, raising 620 for the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, which helps injured firefighters and their families.

Firefighter Mircea Rogojan-Rush said: "We even had some people come in who said 'we don't have a car, but we would like to give some money anyway'."

JD Wetherspoon provided a free meal and drink at the end of the day for all the volunteers, and Halfords donated equipment.
