The United Reformed Church in School Street and St Gregory’s Church held commemorative services of music, hymns, readings and prayers for the centenary of World War One on Sunday (3).

The war dead were also named as URC members gathered around two memorials. One memorial includes the names of two civilian dead: Mr and Mrs Ambrose of East Street, who died during the Zeppelin raid on the town.

The Minister, the Rev Cecil White, said: “The service offered an opportunity for the church community to play its part in the town’s remembrance of WW1.
