Sudbury Town Council will hold their first freemen admissions ceremony tonight.
Freemen of the town are traditionally allowed the right for their cattle to graze on the town’s Common Lands.
This year six new freemen from Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey, but all descendents of Sudbury Freemen, will be admitted.
It is the first town council run freemen ceremony since these powers were handed back from Babergh District Council in 2011.
The last freemen ceremony took place in 2010.
The ceremony will take place in the assembly room in the Town Hall, commencing at 6pm, before this the freemen will be given a tour of the Meadows.
