Sudbury and Hadleigh pool company records £102,000 losses

A BIG dive in profits has been reported by the independent leisure trust which runs the Kingfisher Leisure Centre in Sudbury and Hadleigh Swimming Pool.

South Suffolk Leisure racked up losses of £102,000 in the last financial year for 2011/2012, having also reported a loss of £19,000 the year before.

It says big drops in gym membership income, sky-high utility bills and an unexpected VAT bill has set the company back. It also blamed the recession, with sinking swim numbers at both pools.

The company runs both facilities on behalf of Babergh District Council, which says some reasons for losses were beyond the firm’s control.
