A Sudbury jeweller was left blown-away by the quality of a design challenge he set students at Ormiston Sudbury Academy.

Phillip Zelley, owner of Stag and Doe jewellers in North Street, decided to run a competition to see who could come up with the best concept.

As a prize, he has promised to make the piece of jewellery and offer it for sale in his shop window.

Competition was fierce and Mr Zelley said he had a tough task deciding the winner, with Jemimah Hoque’s animal-shaped pendant edging out the other entries.

“Some ideas were very impressive but unrealistic to make,” he said.
