Shed needed for muliplying guinea pigs at Glemsford
Animal lover Debbie Riley who started her guinea pig collection with seven found it increased unexpectedly to 40 after one she thought was a female turned out to be a male.
Debbie, 39, has a large garden at home in School Field, Glemsford, and they all run free during the day but now the shed she uses to house them at night is too small and she is hoping someone may have a sizeable shed they no longer want.
She explained: "I had the four boys neutered, but I noticed some of the girls were getting bigger. When I double-checked I found the one I call Heidi was actually a Henry! Now I have 40 altogether.
"I just love guinea pigs and can't bear the thought them spending their lives in hutches. I really want to keep them but it would cost the earth to have all the boys neutered.
"When they are six weeks old I'll make separate runs in the garden."
Debbie's children, Kiera-Rose, 16, and Keenan, 5, are also devoted to their family of pets.
Debbie added: "The Cherry Tree pub in the village leaves me a bag of their left-over food for the guinea pigs and Broadway Stores also give me stuff for them. I've laid a patio but can't manage to build a shed so I'd be really grateful if someone could help."
Anyone with a spare large shed can contact Debbie on 01787 282524.
