Pub event in Mount Bures raises £1,000

MORE than £1,000 was split between two charities following a pub’s beer versus wine evening.

Saturday Kitchen’s wine expert, Tim Atkin, and beer writer Adrian Tierney-Jones joined 50 guests at the Thatchers Arms in Mount Bures for the event recently.

Amnesty International and Help for Heroes were the chosen causes as the pub attempted to settle a debate on whether wine or beer went best with food.

Mitch Adams, the pub’s landlord who organised the evening, said £1,060 had been raised.

“It was a brilliant night and both Adrian and Tim were fantastic hosts,” he said.

“We are very pleased with the outcome and all the wine and beer went down very well.”

A mix of foodies, beer lovers and wine writers joined local people at the event, enjoying wine and beer with the five courses produced by the pub.
