A woman questioned by police as part of a fraud investigation has been told to attend court.

Lucy McNaul, 45, was questioned by police in June 2012 after £29,400 was awarded to The Works Sudbury Limited, a not-for-profit social enterprise, which listed Mrs McNaul as a director.

The money, which came from the Government’s community cashback scheme, was allocated to provide a youth club in East Street.

Mrs McNaul had met Sudbury Town Council to discuss the plans and, in 2011, presented figures showing more than £20,000 had been spent on the venture.

No evidence of the club’s existence has ever been found, prompting an investigation by the Criminal Justice Board.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police confirmed a 45-year-old woman had been summoned to court but no date had yet been set for a hearing.
