Prince Harry set to pilot Apaches

PRINCE Harry has qualified as a front-line Apache helicopter pilot after completing his training at Wattisham Airfield.

Captain Wales, as he is known in the Army, marked the end of his 18-month course to fly the attack helicopter on Wednesday.

During a special dinner held at the airbase to congratulate those who completed their training, the 27-year-old also claimed one of the best two young airmen awards – as top co-pilot gunner.

He received his trophy – a polished 30mm round from an Apache cannon mounted on a stand – at the event.

The Prince could return to serve in Afghanistan following a previous tour in 2008.
