Police have confirmed they are now linking two burglaries at hotels in Long Melford and Lavenham in July.

The first happened at The Angel Hotel – owned by celebrity chef Marco Pierre White – in Market lane, Lavenham, between 11pm on July 6 and 7am the next day.

Raiders stole a safe, a wallet containing cards, an amount of cash and clothing.

A week later, thieves struck again at the Black Lion in Church Walk, Long Melford, in a break-in that police are now connecting to the previous incident.

On this occasion, the burglars are thought to have struck between 10pm on July 13 and 10am the following day. Like the previous burglary, a safe containing cash was taken.

Police have asked business owners to be alert and have advised that intruder alarms should be fitted wherever possible.

Anyone with information should contact Pc Anthony De Brito at Sudbury on 101.
