Police investigating sexual assault in Sudbury

An investigation is under way after police received a report that a woman was sexually assaulted in Sudbury.

The incident, which is understood to have taken place in the early hours of Saturday, was reported to police yesterday morning.

A woman, who is in her 30s, said she had spent Friday evening out with a friend in Sudbury but became separated from her while at Infinity nightclub in East Street.

It is understood the woman left the venue and her next recollection is waking up the next morning in a rural location in a dishevelled state, with injuries to her body.

At this stage, the woman tried to make her way home and sought help nearby.

Specialist trained officers are working with the victim and taking statements from others to try to establish the full facts and a location for where the offence took place.

Police are keen to identify the person who gave the victim help and assistance, and would like to speak to anyone who has information in relation to this incident.
