A Sudbury resident is desperate for Babergh District Council to finally fix a leak in a roof – after nine years of complaining.
Charlie Lawson, who lives in Nelson Road, said the lack of action form the council was “driving him mad”.
He warned that if it was not sorted soon, he would make a claim for thousands of pounds in damage.
“I keep a lifetime of tools there that are being ruined,” he said. “Every time it rains, they get wet.”
The damage is being caused, claimed Mr Lawson, by a leak in the roof of his next door neighbour’s council-owned garage.
“Water builds up in their garage and then absolutely floods mine,” said the 66-year-old.
Mr Lawson, a retired grave digger, said council staff had been around numerous times to look at the issue since he first complained in 2005.
This had resulted in 12 different coats of paint being put on the roof – all of which have failed to solve the problem.
“If it was the other way round, the council would come down on me like a tonne of bricks,” he said.
Babergh District Council did not wish to comment on the issue.
