Plans to close Hadleigh care home

Hadleigh’s Angel Court county-run care home is to be closed and its elderly residents transferred to a new purpose-built residential home in Ipswich, Suffolk County Council has announced.

Under plans developed by the county council and Care UK, 16 homes are being replaced by 10 new centres with a £60million investment if plans gets approved at the council’s cabinet meeting on October 16.

If the plan goes through, Hadleigh’s care home in Angel Street, will close in June 2014. Construction of a new home in Aster Road, Ipswich, will begin next April with the new home opening in May 2014.

Permanent staff are to transfer to Care UK on their current terms and conditions.

The council says the new homes will benefit from bigger rooms with en suite facilities.
