Pete Doherty's manager sentenced for Hadleigh hit-and-run
A HIT and run driver is to help pay for the full time care which his victim will need for the rest of his life, a court has been told.
Rock band manager Andrew Boyd, 42, who was at the wheel of a borrowed car when he struck Chris Corder on a road near Hadleigh, is deeply remorseful and will not attempt to avoid his responsibilities, his lawyer said.
The assurance came as Boyd, who manages Pete Doherty and the band Babyshambles, was jailed for 12 months at Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday, February 24. He is expected to serve half that time behind bars.
The court heard that at the time of the accident, Boyd was driving a Daimler car borrowed from Pete Doherty and had no valid driving licence or insurance cover.
Boyd, of Lady Margaret Road, north London, showed no emotion as he was led from the dock to begin serving his sentence as Mr Corder's mother and other relatives looked on.
The court heard that Boyd's mother and Mr Corder's mother attend the same church in Hadleigh and that Boyd had written a letter in which he apologised to the Corder family for what he had done.
