Parents get set for school fitness fundraiser
ON THEIR BIKES: Parents of children at Hartest School are doing their bit to raise funds for the school by holding a fitness weekend.
MUMS and dads of pupils at Hartest Primary School will be learning some valuable lessons in how to keep fit on Saturday.
Around 20 mums have taken up a fitness challenge to raise money for the school, doing an aerobathon in the school hall starting at 9am.
They will spend the morning jumping up and down doing aerobics and salsa, followed by some pilates – all in an attempt to earn sponsorship money.
Meanwhile, several dads have taken to their bikes for a dusk-till-dawn mountain bike race through Thetford Forest.
All the parents have been out pounding the village streets, by bike or by foot, in preparation for the fitness challenge this weekend – run by the school’s fundraising group, Friends of Hartest School.
Friends chairman Michele Roper, a fitness instructor, said the money will go towards maintaining the school’s swimming pool, which was damaged last year by extreme sub-zero temperatures.
