New Suffolk police helicopter on way

A NEW police helicopter will soon be operational in the skies of Suffolk.

A 5million Home Office scheme will see the aircraft in action within the next year from April.

Once up and flying it will support police on the ground by tracking suspected criminals with thermal imaging cameras and it can be used to ferry critically injured people to hospital.

The new helicopter will also be fitted with a powerful searchlight known as 'Nitesun' and a loudspeaker system to communicate with people on the ground.
