A former Sudbury and Great Cornard police officer has been appointed as the new commander for West Suffolk.
Superintendent Andrew Mason will now be responsible for policing in Babergh, Mid Suffolk, St Edmundsbury and Forest Heath districts.
“This is a massive challenge for me,” said the former Sudbury and Great Cornard safer neighbourhood officer.
“The west of the county is a large area with diverse policing needs.
“Suffolk is a really safe place to be but I also know people need to feel safe so I will ensure we have a highly-visible police presence in our communities.
“I really want the public to have confidence in Suffolk Constabulary.
“As I live and work in West Suffolk, I know what a fantastic place it is and I am determined my team will contribute fully to keeping it that way.”
