Missing Sudbury man found dead
THE family of a Sudbury man whose body was found in the town’s river have spoken of their heartbreak.
Lee Hill from Ballingdon Street had been missing for five days before he was discovered in the River Stour on Friday evening.
The 36-year-old’s body was found only metres from his home – close to Ballingdon Bridge – at 7.50pm. Police officers were called to the scene by people who had been walking nearby and Mr Hill was removed from the water with the help of fire crews.
Vicky Hill, from Chelsworth Avenue in Great Cornard, said her brother, who lived in homeless accommodation, would be missed by all who knew him.
“I loved him so much and he was always there for me,” said Miss Hill. “He was a lovely man and I hope the pain I’m feeling will get easier.”
The 34-year-old said Mr Hill had two children, Liam, 14, and Chloe, 11, from a former relationship and they were currently living in Braintree.
Mr Hill’s body was formally identified over the weekend and a post-mortem examination has taken place. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
An inquest into Mr Hill’s death was opened and adjourned at Bury St Edmunds Police Station on Tuesday afternoon.
