WORRIED: Josh and Lucy Keedy-Davies, with friend Laurence Chalk (centre), are appealing for help in finding their lost turtle.

LOLO the tortoise with an identity crisis – she is really a he and not a tortoise at all – is being sought by his worried owners who fear he is in danger of getting run over on a nearby busy road.

Lolo, who has been with the family for eight years, went missing over a week ago from a vegetable patch in the garden of Sue Keddy in Bures Road, Great Cornard.

“His name is Lolo but it should be Houdini, and he’s not a tortoise, he’s actually a box turtle,” said Sue.

“It’s not the first time he’s wandered off on his own. We couldn’t find him for a little while about five weeks ago and then he turned up in our next door neighbour’s garden.

“This time, I put him in a big onion patch, with stakes all around the side to keep him in. He hates being caged up so I presume he found a way out and has wandered too far to find his way home.

“He’s a hardy old thing but the children and I are really worried because the road at the front is very busy. If anyone has found him, I’d really like to know he’s ok.”

The family have put out an appeal to local residents and business to look out for the turtle.
