Marathon effort will end with run in Sahara Desert for owner of Long Melford's Black Lion

AFTER battling gale-force winds and torrential rain in a gruelling mountain challenge, a hotelier was slapping on the heat treatment and heading south, to take part in a road race in London.

Craig Jarvis, owner of the Black Lion in Long Melford, has just completed the first two stages of an epic fundraising challenge that will end next year when he takes on the Marathon Des Sables - one of the toughest races in the world through the Sahara Desert.

Within five hours of nearing the summit of Snowdon in the Three Peaks Challenge on Sunday - to raise money for St Nicholas Hospice Care - he was at the starting line of the ASICS British 10k London Run.

See this week's Suffolk Free Press to read how Craig did in the 10k run and which challenges he will tackle next.
