A 68-year-old man from Hadleigh has denied sending harassing letters to the town council clerk.

David Smith, from Angel Street, is alleged to have sent 57 letters to Carol Bailey at her place of work between July and December.

Smith pleaded not guilty to the charge at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

He was released on unconditional bail and is due to return to court for his trial on April 14.
