A Glemsford man, who assaulted his former lover has been spared prison.

Ryan White, who lives in Schoolfield, appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court last Monday on charges of assault and intimidating a witness – both against Alex Coombes.

The 22-year-old had pleaded guilty to both offences at a hearing in November.

Magistrates were told that White had attacked his ex-partner, with whom he has a young child, in Newton Road, Sudbury, on August 11.

He had then approached Miss Coombes, when restricted from doing so, and acted in a way which intimidated her.

White was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a total of £375 in court costs.
