Man attacked police officers

A Sudbury man who assaulted two police officers while drunk has appeared in court.

Robert Battell, of Constable Road, pleaded guilty to assaulting two officers, Pc Wayne Sturman and Pc Leon Mower, when he appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.

The 48-year-old also admitted to being drunk and disorderly in East Street, Sudbury, on January 20, damaging an airwave earpiece and cable connection belonging to police and obstructing police.

Battell was released on conditional bail and is due to return to court to be sentenced today.
