A serial burglar who was subject of a county-wide manhunt has pleaded guilty to eight offences.

At the hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, May 19, David Howard admitted five counts of burglary and a further count of attempted burglary.

Howard, of no fixed address, was arrested in March after a police and media appeal.

He was spotted by a member of the public in Braintree and subsequently charged with a string of burglaries.

Howard’s defence has asked for a 10-week adjournment and proceedings are set to continue on August 11.
