A NEW general manager has been appointed to run the county’s library network.

Alison Wheeler will take on the position within the Industrial and Provident Society, which has been set up by Suffolk County Council to run its 44 branches. She was formerly head of library services at the council.

Sudbury Library is one of seven libraries included in a pilot scheme to test the new venture and, if successful, Sudbury Town Council will take over the management of the library and its staff in a year’s time.
