There has been a backlash to plans which could see lorries travelling at up to 50mph on Suffolk’s rural roads.

Robert Lindsay, the Green Party’s South Suffolk parliamentary candidate, has opposed a Government announcement that the speed limit for HGVs on single lane, rural roads will be increased from 40mph to 50mph following a consultation.

“Yet again, the Government has shown itself more interested in propping up its friends in the haulage industry than promoting cycling and walking,” Mr Lindsay said.
