A woman from Great Cornard is preparing to skydive to raise money for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

After a friend shaved her hair off to raise money for the hospice, Hayley Gittings, 38, joked she would rather jump out of a plane than do the same – and has been true to her word.

Hayley will skydive in memory of her friend, Amanda Wade, who died from cancer last year and was cared for by the Bury St Edmunds-based hospice.

Amanda left a husband and two daughters, who the hospice continues to support.

“To be honest, I am really scared about the skydive but I really want to do it for the hospice and in memory of my friend,” said Hayley, who lives in Nursery Road in Cornard.

Hayley will attempt her jump on May 17.
