DIAMOND GEEZER: Six-year-old gets a letter from the Queen after sending Jubilee present.

When six-year-old Harry Garden finished his diamond-themed sewing project at school, there was only one place it was going.

Harry, from St Andrew’s Rise in Bulmer, wrote a letter starting “Dear The Queen...” and popped it in the post with his sewing in October as a gift to mark theJubilee year.

Then, out of the blue, a letter bearing the Buckingham Palace postmark dropped on to the doormat last month.

Written by one of the Queen’s ladies-in waiting, it thanked Harry for his gift and said: “It was kind of you to send this carefully embroidered picture which you have sewn at school and, although unable to reply to you personally, the Queen was pleased to hear from you.”

Harry, who goes to Bulmer St Andrew’s Primary School, said: “I was excited when I opened it.” Mum Claire said she was very proud.
