Groton Pylon Alliance launches new website

A GROUP formed to fight National Grid's proposals to put up a high-voltage power line across the south Suffolk countryside, has announced the launch of its new website.

Groton Pylon Alliance has stepped up its campaign to challenge the energy giant's plans to build a new 400Kv overhead power line to provide additional electricity transmission capacity between Bramford, near Ipswich, and Twinstead, near Sudbury.

GPA chairman Colin Blackmore said: "We have expanded rapidly in the last month and have received many messages of support from parish councils, residents and landowners potentially affected by National Grid's plans.

"Given our widespread support base and the short period of consultation, it is important that we are able to communicate with our supporters in a timely and effective manner. The GPA's website – www.groton-pylon-alliance.co.uk – will form part of our communication strategy and will include details of the proactive steps we are currently taking as a conservation group to preserve the countryside and landscape of this beautiful part of Suffolk.
