Students queued in the rain apprehensively to get their GCSE results today at schools across the area.
But the wait was soon over – and there were smiles from many and, in some cases, whoops of delight and hugs from friends before the 16-year-olds were on their mobile phones to tell friends and family what they had got.
In Great Cornard, Thomas Gainsborough School students found out they had done slightly better than last year, with 56 per cent of students attaining five A* to C grade passes, including English and maths.
Ormiston Sudbury Academy, previously Sudbury Upper School, described its first year as an academy as “fruitful” and says it plans to build on the success next year.
