Firm helps on DIY show

THE expertise of a Hadleigh firm was put to good use on national television.

Iron works company Jim Lawrence, based on the Lady Lane Industrial Estate, was involved in the filming of BBC One’s DIY SOS on Wednesday.

The firm stepped in to help David Williams and his daughter Erica in their bid to build their dream home in the Welsh countryside, after the pair were forced to live in a caravan for six years following the death of Mr William’s wife.

The 53-year-old was then diagnosed with cancer and became too ill to complete building his new home.

In just 10 days, the DIY SOS team transformed the family’s breeze block shell into a home and Jim Lawrence sent over four sets of wall lights to use in the build.

Mr Lawrence said: “It is a real pleasure to know that our lights will contribute to happier living for this very deserving family.”
