The decision to switch Long Melford Primary School’s summer fete to the weekend has been hailed a success.

The event raised £1,800 towards the school’s PTA – the Flumps.

“It was the first time we held it on a Saturday as we wanted to try to increase the size and scope of the event and get the community out,” said headteacher Paula Hagan.

“It exceeded all our expectations.”

Activities included a raft race , climbing wall and cake bake-off.
