Duo deny cheating council out of cash

Two people are to stand trial accused making false claims for payments from Babergh District Council.

Brian Brachtvogel, 54, of Cordell Place, Sudbury, and Audrey Brachtvogel, 58, of Bildeston Road, Offton, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday.

Brian Brachtvogel pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting a failure to notify a change in circumstances, two offences of aiding and abetting making a false statement and one of aiding and abetting the use of a false document.

Audrey Brachtvogel pleaded not guilty to dishonestly failing to notify a change in circumstances, dishonestly making a false claim, making a false statement and providing a false document.

Their trial is expected to last for three days and is due to take place in April. The duo were granted unconditional bail.
