Duo arrested after Sudbury blaze

TWO people were arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis after a house fire in Sudbury.

Fire crews were called to a house in Belle Vue Road after neighbours saw flames in the living room of a property at around 12.50am last Friday.

After putting out the fire, firefighters found a number of cannabis plants at the property.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said officers had been notified by the fire service about the discovery, which included cannabis cultivating equipment.

A 41-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, both from Sudbury, were subsequently arrested.

They were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning before being released on bail.
