Doctor guilty of fraud offences
A doctor who made extra money by falsifying prescriptions has been ordered to pay more than £350.
Former Boxford GP Michael Debenham pleaded guilty to committing fraud by false representation between September 23, 2010, and September 7 last year, at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
The 60-year-old, from Priory Road, Hintlesham, previously worked for an NHS practice in Hadleigh and set up his own practice in Boxford in 1993.
He is the principal of Northlands Practice in Hintlesham, a private practice he set up 10 years ago.
Debenham’s licence to practise medicine was suspended in April according to the General Medical Council’s website.
Magistrates fined him £265, and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
